Prompt for March 23, 2014 – Day 82

So I had an epiphany yesterday while working on When All’s Said and Done and it makes me excited to work in the UNSETIC/Lost Angels universe–even more excited that I have been in the past.

I love it when characters surprise me.

Prompt Type:  Change it up

Prompt:  Take a side character in the project that you’re working on and experiment with turning them into an antagonist–or perhaps a full-blown villain.  Write a few scenes that display their motivation and possibly their plans.  See where it all takes you.

Prompt for March 22, 2014 – Day 81

Yay for weekends!  Mine will probably be spent reading a friend’s manuscript, working on my own, and watching Frozen and Thor 2.

Here’s a prompt to keep you busy while I’m doing all of that.

Prompt Type: Opening Line

Prompt:  “At some point, you just get fed up,” he growled. “I’m there and now they’ve got to pay.”

Prompt for March 20, 2014 – Day 79

Almost to the end of the work week and time for another prompt.  This one uses Kim Freimoeller’s Inspiration Dice.

Prompt type: Change it up

Prompt: Take a project you’ve already started but maybe gotten blocked on.  Make some changes and see where they take you.

  1. Add a vision in which one of your characters destroys something incredibly important
  2. Have a messenger suddenly remember to tell your characters something that they’ve forgotten.

Prompt for March 19, 2014 – Day 78

Another Wednesday, guys! Halfway to the end of this week.

Where the heck is March disappearing to? I feel like it should still be mid-February at this point.

I shuffled up my playlist for Legacies of the Lost Earth yesterday while working on the update, and this was the first song that popped. It comes up on a lot of my writing playlists, in no small part because of the words. Listen to the words and see what comes.

A little late for today’s prompt today; apologies!  Got caught up in something last night and spaced out.

Okay, I got caught up in watching the first season of Game of Thrones for the first time.  Mea culpa.

Prompt for March 14, 2014 – Day 73

Happy Friday, folks!

Time for another prompt.

Prompt Type: Character History

Prompt: Take the main character from your current project (if you have multiple projects or multiple mains, pick the one you feel like you know the least about right now) and imagine what they were doing twenty years ago. Write a scene set in that time period and see where it takes you.

With any luck, you may be able to incorporate what you’ve just learned about your character in your current project.
