Happy Sunday (and what I’ve been up to)

Happy Sunday!

The last few months have admittedly been my brain on some kind of roller coaster of not knowing what to work on, staring at blank screens, reading in an attempt to spark some inspiration, and other things like that. With the shift in the weather, that makes for an urge not only to clear my space but to actually occasionally leave my space (a shocker for anyone who knows me very well – I am probably the person that could be voted most likely to be perfectly happy chilling on the couch with my cats and the internet).

This, mind, is the curse of both a creative brain and a logistical brain that’s been working on SOPs for the day job.  Writing operating procedures for both internal and external teams is one of those things that requires a lot of the same puzzle muscles that crafting fiction does, just channeled in much different directions.  Is this an excuse?  Maybe, but that doesn’t make it that much less true.  Most of the non-work writing that’s come out of me lately has been flavored like some blood elves, but if folks are interested in those shorts, I’m more than willing to share them with or without context.

Still, if you’ve hit me up at Doc Says Rawr lately, I’m sure you’ve seen the daily writing prompts that have been going up mostly like clockwork and there are plans for that to continue all the way to the end of the year – wish me luck.  I’ve done this 1.5 times before (the .5 is 2020 and I was doing image prompts on Instagram, so I think we can all figure out why that ended up being only half the year rather than the whole thing) and while it was a lot of work, it was also a lot of fun to do.

Looking ahead to the second half of the year (how is it already almost June? Someone please explain), I plan on getting in over my head, setting ambitious goals, and hopefully making at least some of them.

Lots of randomness there in the planner for next week, right? One of the things I’m trying to do is actually using the lovely planner that I have for things that I want to do outside of my day job (day job has its own undated daily planner which I’ll refrain from subjecting you to). Some things, of course, will have nothing to do with writing (as you can clearly see). Some things, of course, will.

And then, of course, there are the plans that rise and fall that have been rising and falling for several years now.

Yeah.  A podcast.

The problems with me doing a podcast are legion and that is hardly a secret, starting with how to get started and having too many ideas for what I might want to do.  The page on the left in the picture is an idea that cropped up in my head literally today.

More to come on that, among other things–of this I’m certain.

I will probably be putting up a poll soon to see if folks have knee-jerk reactions to what they’d like to see me writing in the coming couple of weeks and then into June.  Otherwise, I’ll have to wrangle my brain into spaces–or let it wander and see where it goes.

Either way, I’ve rambled enough for one Sunday morning.  Happy one week to a holiday weekend for folks in the States.  Brace yourselves.  Summer is coming.
