Just when you think it’s dead…

Just when I think something’s finally breathed its last, finally faded away into the ether…I get surprised.  I’m not complaining, I’m actually really happy, but it’s just…amazing how that seems to happen.

I am, of course, talking about the Aurora Force.

I poked Wes, an old friend, to make sure he was still breathing via Facebook and got a response.  Rock on, Wes is still alive.  Told him that a few of us (“us” being the people still friends based on our involvement in AF) had been worried about him and left it at that.  Opened up my e-mail this morning to find the first Aurora Force post to come through my box since August.

Imagine that.

So the annals are updated, and I’ve written a post of my own–it’s almost weird to get back into the skins of Indiana, Tag, and Nylan again, but I managed, somehow.  I’m thinking that Ed and I might be writing a post later about restructuring the fleet.  But that won’t be until he’s home from work.

All this in the midst of dealing with guild schtuff.  Go figure.  My command staff couldn’t believe that I’d played a character like Indy–the long-suffering wife of a man who’s been cheating on her for three quarters of nearly twenty years of marriage.  I guess it’s just that every character they’ve seen me play doesn’t take shit from anyone.  That could be it.  For a lot of years, Indy did nothing but take crap from her husband–or for her husband–and keep quiet about it.  Partially for the sake of the kids, but partially because she loved the bastard and knew that he was just a big, stupid boy.

Mercifully for him, most of the men in her life didn’t know the exact extent to his philandering until “recently.”

It’s nice to get back to that story.  There’s a lot of potential, and a lot that I’d like to actually work through.  Some twists that I know the folks who’re still reading won’t see coming.  Maybe.  We’ll see.
