Prompt for April 2, 2014 – Day 92

It’s Wednesday!  Halfway to the end of the work week.

It’s also day two of CampNaNoWriMo.  Maybe I’ll actually get my Awakenings-themed project rolling today.  In honor of that project, I give you the opening line below to play with–the near-iconic line that was the genesis for the original Awakenings.

Prompt Type: Opening line

Prompt:  “Take a breath and wait to die.”

Prompt for April 1, 2014 – Day 91

Happy April 1, folks!

Prompt Type: Change it up

Think about your hero/protagonist and what motivates them.  Boil it down to one vice or virtue–love, greed, envy, fear, hope, etc.–that drives what they do.

Now change it up.  How would your protagonist be different if betrayal motivated them?  Write a character sketch or scene detailing how hope motivates the actions of your hero/protagonist.

Prompt for March 31, 2014 – Day 90

Ninety days in, guys, and we’re saying good-bye to March.  It’s also Monday, so good luck with that. I spent part of my weekend doing genealogy and another part working on the edits for The Measure of Dreams. I hope yours was as productive.

Another quotation prompt to match Friday.  Let’s see what you can do with it.

Prompt Type: Quotation

Prompt:  Write a scene inspired by the following quote. It could be set in the time period when the quote was spoken, could involve the quote itself, or could simply be inspired by the theme of the quote.

When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw.

– Nelson Mandela

Prompt for March 30, 2014 – Day 89

Last Sunday of March–where have these past three months gone?  Damned if I know, right?

I don’t pick instrumentals for many music prompts, but this one is one of my favorites and somehow finds its way onto most of my writing playlists.  Once you listen, I think you’ll be able to figure out why.

Prompt Type: Music prompt
