Prompt for February 3, 2014 – Day 34

Another Monday, but this week’s special — the Sochi Olympics start this week!  I’m from a family that adores the Olympics and I’m just as excited this year as I’ve been in past years.  The Winter Olympics are my favorite and sometimes–sometimes–I think every four years just isn’t enough.

Today’s prompt is another using Kim Freimoeller’s Inspiration Dice.

Prompt type: Genre, setting, character, and plot seed

Prompt: A fiction piece (any genre) where an anti-hero must triumph with the help of a passing traveler.

Prompt for February 2, 2014 – Day 33

Happy Imbolc / Groundhog’s Day / Super Bowl Sunday for folks who care.  I plan on getting some work done while I hang out with the family and watch the game (and the attendant commercials).

Hopefully, you’re planning on doing some writing before gridiron (if you’re the type who cares about American football).  Here’s your prompt for the day.

Prompt Type: Opening line

Prompt:  I’d walked through hell and then back again to get here and I’d be even more damned than I already was if I was going to let someone stand in my way.

Prompt for February 1, 2014 – Day 32

And on to February.  Congratulations, you’ve made it through the first month of prompts and emerged into the second.

Another character development prompt for today–hopefully you learned something new about your character back on Day 21 that you were able to use.

Prompt Type: Character development

Prompt: Pick one of your secondary characters that’s important to your main character.  Just like you did for your main character, imagine what this character was doing ten years ago.  Write a scene set in that time period and see where it takes you.

When I did this with General Jackson Hunter from the Epsilon universe, I realized that he was a lot more important to Aaron Taylor than Aaron realized.  You may end up realizing the same thing.

Last day of January, last prompt of the first month and it’s a new prompt type.  Make it count!

“All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.”

— Winston Churchill
